Re: AltDVB v2.4 - Build 5488

Post by satalt »

After a few tests changing the Signal Update Interval to 10000 ms, 8000, 6000, 5000,
800, 700, 600 and 500, the latter seems to work better, though with it there is still
some image breakup once in a while.

I did some recording to see if there is also breakup in them, and yes, there are.

What would changing this suppose to do? less processing for the program? I have it
configured to use hardware acceleration, so the CPU use is minimal, almost none.

Does this image breakup happen to other users of AltDVB with the CrazyCat library
and different Sat cards? What else could I try to fix this?

Thanks once more.

Regards.

It seems I haven't image breakup you've described but I'd want to see your record and explanation what to see on (what seconds from beginning of record).

The higher value should be better (so 10000 ms better than 500 ms). I saw that on some machines and was related somehow to reading signal stats on Bda2_Driver. I've never found an ideal solution for this, just less breakups.

Try to set this to 0 for tests. Signal won't be updated at all (quality information will be gone), but maybe breakups will be gone?

Hi, here is a screen capture of a recording I just did so you guys can see this image breakup. I have the
recording but I don't know where to upload it to. If you tell me some free site and without having to
register, I'll upload it there. Thanks.

By the way, the recording is 2 minutes long and 128 MB in size.

Now I'm sure I haven't such (square) artifacts (you call it image breakup) with both Altx and CrazyCat modules.
You can try to upload your 128 MB recording to https://transfiles.ru - don't forget to set point to 14 days saving instead of default 3 days.

You're welcome. I've downloaded your file with very interesting subject and now sure I haven't such artifacts at all.
Seems Mr. Orbita is right - have you tried set Signal Update Interval to 0?

I will set it to 0 and check if these artifacts are gone forever, I will test this during a couple
of days. I will report back.

I'd like to remind you that this only happens with the CrazyCat library and with satellite
channels, not with DVB-T channels tunned with this same library; and also that it doesn't
happen either with the original AltX library (but with this library I can only tune the first
LNB, Hot BIrd). Video codecs? Shouldn't be the problem because as said, there are no
artifacts with DVB-T channels and when AltX's library is used. Weird...

Thanks for the help, guys. Gotta go to bed now. Good night.

Before I start doing my new tests later, I need to know something else about the program.

How do I disable the 'Always on top' feature that apparently the program has when in
Floating Windowed Mode? I haven't found a way to disable it, and it's annoying because
it can cover some parts of the desktop where I may have another program open.

Thanks.

It seems just ask altxro to add that functional or i.e. to use app SmartDVB with unchecked 'Stay on top' ;)
