Autoscanning feature - to run current frequency scan on channel change

Post by Mr. Orbita »

User @peh from Poland came up with a nice idea, which I find interesting too :)

In E2 Linux receivers there is a feature of autoscan. STB can automatically scan current frequency on channel change. If there are changes, eg new channels had been launched on this frequency, STB adds them automatically. Also it updates parameters of channels that are already in channels database.

Maybe it could be an optional feature (disabled by deafult) in AltDVB too? 8-) AltDVB would try to do a scanning in the background and if it would succeed, it would refresh channels list.

I'm only not sure about two things:
- should AltDVB reload currently watched channel, if its parameters were updated? (and what to do, when channel had been removed?)
- should AltDVB show any summary about additions/updates/deletions?

Please share your thoughts, what do you think about such feature? ;)

Nice idea indeed  What a coincidence, just yesterday I noticed this option in the menu of my Samsung TV.
It is worth implementing, but as you said, with option to enable/disable the feature and with configurable actions for deleted and updated channels. Added on todo list...
